KARACHI: The Gymkhana race meeting that was scheduled to take place at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday has been cancelled due to ongoing spell of heavy rainfall in the city.

“Persistent rain that has made the track unsuitable for races has compelled us to announce cancellation,” a spokesman for the KRC told Dawn on Saturday.

Earlier, the KRC had released a five-race card including Independence Day Cup to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of the country.

The last races were held on July 30 that was followed by a fortnight break for Moharram. The next date of the meeting will be announced later, the official added.
