Warner Bros considers shelving $200m film The Flash after Ezra Miller’s continued erratic behaviour, multiple arrests

Other options on the table include getting the actor professional help and letting them do limited press for the movie.

The Flash actor Ezra Miller, whose pronouns are they/them, has been arrested multiple times this year because of several incidents of misconduct and it doesn’t seem like they plan on stopping anytime soon. This has, however, has put Warner Bros in a tight spot. They are weighing the future of film, which is scheduled for a June 2023 release.

Though it seemed the company was not thinking much about it much since the release was pretty far off, opening day now edges closer and Miller keeps getting entangled in arrests. This has prompted Warner to feel compelled to chart out a plan. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it has come up with three possible routes to follow.

First is that the Perks of Being a Wallflower actor will receive professional help after returning to their farm in Vermont and give an interview explaining their erratic behaviour in the past years. They could then do limited press and the film’s theatric release can carry on as planned.

The second option is open to the possibility that he may not get help — in that scenario, the movie can be released without Miller playing a prominent role in the marketing and publicity. Additionally, the company has decided that the actor will not be playing the character anymore and the role will be recast in future installations.

The last resort would be to shelve the movie entirely. If the situation with the Fantastic Beasts actor worsens, they’ll have to kill the $200 million movie since it can’t be reshot with a different actor as Miller is in almost every scene and plays multiple characters.

Miller was cast as the Flash in 2014, the same year a solo The Flash film was announced. There were multiple changes in director until Andy Muschietti finally got the project off the ground. The film also stars Michael Keaton back as Batman for the first time in 30 years and Ben Affleck as a different version of Batman.

Miller began their time as the Flash with cameos in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad, released in 2016, before having a main role in Justice League a year later.

The 29-year-old actor has been heavily involved in controversy this year from arrests lining up for them, one after the other. Most recently, they were charged with a felony burglary on Monday, and on Wednesday, Rolling Stone reported that Vermont’s child services department is trying to locate a mother and three children who have allegedly been residing at Miller’s farm in the state.

Previously this year, they have been arrested on account of disorderly conduct, second degree assault and harassment.
