SARGODHA, Jan 28: The Punjab government has transferred proprietary rights to around 3,256 units of kutcha abadis out of a total of 4,500 in the district.

This was stated by Punjab kutcha abadis Director General Javed Iqbal Awan at a meeting of tehsil Nazims and the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) here on Sunday.

Mr Awan said the Punjab governor had directed the relevant departments for the early delivery of proprietary rights to the dwellers in the abadis.

He said the governor would shortly visit Sargodha and announce the proprietary rights to the residents of Islampura and Sulemanpura.

He urged the dwellers to deposit the development charges of their share of 20 per cent in the government treasury while the government would afford the remaining 80 per cent of the uplift charges.

Sargodha tehsil Nazim Tasneem Ahmad Qureshi had requested the government to release the grant of Rs8.8 million to complete the development projects in these abadis.

The government announced allocation of Rs800,000 and Rs6,000,000 for development in Bhalwal and Bhera, respectively.

The participants were informed that the widows would be provided maximum benefits and a park would be constructed on the state land in Sulemanpura.

Sahiwal tehsil Nazim Asghar Larri urged the DG to get a playground built in the city.

Meanwhile, Punjab social welfare Minister Shaheen Atiqur Rahman had approved a plan to build parks, sewing schools and dispensaries in these kutcha abadis.
