KARACHI, Jan 28: The 13th Karachi City PMA Marathon 2002 will be held on Sunday, March 3, on its traditional route.

This was announced by the President, Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), Prof Tipu Sultan, at a press conference here on Monday.

He said the highlights of this year’s marathon was the announcement of the overall prize money, which has been increased to Rs150,000 with the grand overall winner’s purse (first prize) to be Rs50,000.

There will also be a number of cash awards for the winners and the runners-up in six different categories.

The event will be open to anyone wishing to compete in the full distance (26 miles) or half-marathon (13.5 miles).

Furthermore, for those who wish to compete for fitness and fun, a separate route for a ‘health walk’ has also been earmarked.

The key message for this year is: “Antioxidants Are Good for Health”.

The marathon will start from the PMA House, on M.A. Jinnah Road, and after covering a distance of 26 miles, will concludes at the same place. —APP
