FAISALABAD, Dec 12: The railway station intersection will be redesigned and modernized in the light of heavy volume of traffic. At a meeting here on Monday, Madina Town Nazim Chaudhry Ali Akhtar said the traffic blockade at the railway station intersection had become an order of the day, and there was a dire need to change the design of busy intersections for a smooth flow of traffic.
The nazim said the busy Abdullahpur Intersection and its dual carriageway towards the city and Gatwala would also be redesigned, and Jaranwala Road and Canal Road beautified.
He said traffic police officials have been asked to present their suggestions in this regard so that the plan could be implemented.
DEVELOPMENT: Lyallpur Town Nazim Rana Zahid Mahmood has said the future planning for the uplift of city areas and modernization of the existing infrastructure will be made with the consultation of lawyers and other qualified professionals.
Speaking to members of the District Bar Association here on Monday, the nazim said a transparent system was being introduced to run financial affairs of the town council for which all stakeholders had been asked to submit their proposals.
He said the officials and their subordinates had been asked to perform their duties efficiently and resolve people’s problems promptly. Strict actions like termination from service were being taken against the corrupt officials, he said.
He said efforts would be made to provide basic amenities to the residents of Lyallpur Town for which a development plan had been chalked out.
He said the operation against encroachments in eight bazaars and other commercial centres would continue till the complete revival of the historical beauty of city buildings.
The town nazim said new lights would be installed at the district courts, parking problem resolved with the consultation of lawyers and under-construction roads completed within the shortest possible time.
He also announced a donation of Rs500,000 for the DBA and promised to allocate Rs2 million in the annual budget of the town for the development of district courts.
Earlier, DBA president Saleem Jahangir highlighted the problems being faced by the lawyers. He also demanded increase in the strength of sanitary workers.
