KARACHI, Dec 12: A seminar on the World Year of Physics 2005 was held under the aegis of Pulse Science Society of DHA College for Women at the college’s auditorium here on Monday.

Mrs Tayyaba Mamoon, principal of the college in her inaugural address termed physics as the essence of all sciences and stressed on the need to improve and enhance the teaching and education of physics in educational institutions of higher learning.

Rabee Arshad, a college student gave a presentation on the life and career of Einstein and mentioned his famous energy equation (E=mc2) which provided an incredible insight into the working of the universe.

Another student, Ayesha M. Hussain highlighted the tremendous hydrogen economy which entailed application of rules of physics in chemistry.

Natasha Khalid spoke on the effects of magnetism on living things embodying application of living state physics in biology and medical sciences.

Mina Azhar gave a knowledgeable account of application of principals of physics on the projectile motion in maths.

Lalarukh Fida and Sabika Majid gave a presentation underlying the application of relevant biophysical mechanism and theories in probing and understanding the complex issues of geography and psychology.

Komal Ali and Sadaf Jaffery highlighted the importance of Real Time System. Mansoor Naqvi gave an informative talk on medical physics, Dr Hina Baig talked about the Life in Oceans, while Dr Sadia Manzoor spoke on application of magnetism theory in the development of physical sciences, and Prof Aziz Fatima highlighted the importance of physics in education.

At the end the chief guest DHA Director Education Brig Muzaffarul Hasan appreciated the efforts of the Pulse Science Society and gave away prizes to the participants.—PPI
