BAHAWALPUR: A passenger bogie of Farid Express derailed at the Sammasatta railway station, causing disruption of up and down traffic for several hours on Tuesday.
According to railway sources, the 38-DN Farid Express bound for Karachi from Lahore reached the Sammasatta railway junction in the afternoon. “Three economy class passengers bogies allotted for accommodation of passengers from this area are daily attached with it at the station,” sources said. During shunting, they said, a bogie derailed and fell on the main (Karachi and Lahore) railway tracks disrupting the railway traffic.
A relief train was brought there and it took a couple of hours to bring the bogie back on track after which the train was allowed to resume journey.
