KARACHI: An angry mob lynched two of the three suspected robbers, who shot at and wounded a man during a robbery bid, in Orangi Town on Friday, police said.

They said three brothers were travelling on a motorbike when as many armed robbers, also riding a motorcycle, intercepted them near Rehmat Masjid in Orangi Town’s Sector-11 ½ and snatched cash and valuables from them.

Iqbal Market SHO Khan Mohammed Bhatti said one of the three brothers, identified as Tehseen Javed, 23, put up resistance and the robbers fired at him. He suffered two bullet wounds.

He said his brothers also put up resistance and got hold of the robbers. In the meantime, area residents also reached there and subjected the three robbers to a severe beating before the police reached the scene.

The wounded citizen and all three suspects were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where two of robbers died during treatment, said the SHO.

He said that dead suspects could not be identified till late in the night as their third accomplice was also in critical condition.
