LAHORE: The popular stage show for children, Ainak Wala Jin, will have an award show for all those leading artists who have performed in this show in previous years.

Haseeb Pasha, the moving spirit behind Ainak Wala Jin, told Dawn on Sunday the show was recently revived and only a couple of shows were held.

“We’re going to put up a new set of the show, the costly one and new costumes have been arranged for characters,” he said.

He said leading artists and singers who have performed in the drama, such as Shabnam Majeed, Humera Arshad, Fareeha Pervaiz, Shehzad Qaisrer, Hafeez Tahir and many other artists would be invited to the award show, which is being planned.

Several generations have grown up watching the three-decade-old children’s favourite play.

It is an educational show in which children are shown different segments conveying messages of peace, harmony, and love for the country, respect for teachers and the value of truth. The show, Mr Pasha, said would have a new set, lighting system, décor and costumes. There will be a grand award ceremony.

The popular play for children was first televised by the PTV Lahore centre in February 1993 and it gave noted artists to the television. Families, in general, and children, in particular, would glue to the TV sets to watch the episodes of Ainak Wala Jin. Munna Lahori who performed the key role of Zakoota Jin has passed away. Similarly, Nusrat Ara who played Bill Batori is no more and her role will now be played by some other actor.
