KARACHI: Three men were shot dead in the Orangi Town area on Friday evening, police and rescuers said.

DIG-West Nasir Aftab said that two suspects, identified as Khalil Rehman, 50, and his friend, Juman, 45, killed their friend Hayat Khan, 30, near Al-Huda Masjid in the Muslimabad area within the jurisdiction of the Pirabad police station.

Another friend of the victim witnessed the scene and he pulled out his weapon and fired at the assailants, killing them on the spot. He was identified as Shaukat. He escaped from the scene, the DIG added.

He said that the triple murder had nothing to do with targeted killing as the victims had no affiliation with any political or religious group.

He said that an initial probe revealed that Hayat was murdered by his own friends over some issues while Shaukat shot dead the killers in revenge.

The bodies were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to fulfil medico-legal formalities.

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident and directed the Karachi police chief to immediately arrest the culprits.

“An immediate report must be submitted as to whether it was a targeted killing or some other was involved,” he said in a statement.
