PESHAWAR, Dec 6: The immigration staff at Peshawar airport arrested on Tuesday a man who was trying to board a Dubai-bound Emirates Airline flight on a passport stolen from Gujrat, a senior official told Dawn. When Mohammad Zeb, resident of Swat presented his passport, the Personal Identification and Secured Compression Evaluation System found that it was a stolen document, Assistant Director (immigration) Inamullah Gandapur said.

He said that the passport had been stolen from Gujrat more than four years ago but Zeb claimed that it was issued to him by the Pakistani Consulate in Dubai in 2,002.

The stamp of the consulate was prominent on the passport but they could not say whether it was bogus or genuine, said the official.

He said that they had sent the accused to the FIA passport circle to investigate how he got the stolen passport.

KIDNAPPED: A college student and a woman are believed to have been kidnapped, police officials said.

Lal Mateen, resident of Momin Town, told the Faqirabad police that his son Mohammad Ibrar, student of second year in a local college, went missing on Monday.

But he got the information that one Mehboob Alam had kidnapped Ibrar over monetary dispute with his elder son Zahid Anwar, Matin said.

He added that Anwar was in Central Jail Peshawar after conviction in a drug smuggling case and Alam had a dispute of Rs1.5 million with him.

Police have registered a case and started search for Alam.

Meanwhile, one Darwesh, resident of Lala Kallay, told the Chamkani police that he had been working as a watchman in Faisalabad.

He recently came to Peshawar on leave and found his wife Noureen missing from their house.

Darwesh alleged that his wife had been kidnapped by her relative Javed and his accomplice Tariq as the former wanted to ‘marry’ her.

Police have registered a case and started investigation.

ROBBERY: One Naeem Khan, resident of Ghari Sarbuland, told the Pishtakhara police that he was going to his home on his motorcycle on Tuesday when four people intercepted him on Sangu-Landi Road and snatched his motorcycle.
