ISLAMABAD, Dec 6: President foreign liaison committee of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Enver Baig has commended the Commonwealth on reminding Gen Pervez Musharraf that holding the posts of army chief and the president is incompatible with the basic principles of democracy.

In a statement here on Monday, the PPP senator said, “I would like to pay a well-deserved tribute to the leaders of the Commonwealth for the joint statement issued by them at the conclusion of their recent meeting in Malta.”

He said the PPP and its Chairperson Benazir Bhutto had been pointing out this constitutional anomaly, which has been thrust on the people of Pakistan by sheer force.
