LAHORE, Dec 6: Local police and Mayo hospital authorities have launched a probe into reports of alleged rape of a teenage earthquake victim by a doctor. The case, which reportedly took place on Saturday on the Mayo premises, was reported to SSP Operations Amir Zulfikar on Tuesday by the girl’s father.

The SP city visited the hospital in the afternoon where he recorded the statement of the 18-year-old girl who is undergoing treatment for leg wounds.

The hospital authorities told the SP that they were already conducting an inquiry into the allegation. The accused doctor, 43, is reported to have disappeared.

The girl said the doctor had taken her to a room ‘for X-ray’ and assaulted her. She reported the matter to a ward nurse who brought the matter to the notice of the hospital authorities.
