DERA MURAD JAMALI: Two people were killed and two others were seriously injured after unidentified armed men opened fire on a shop near a bus stop on the National Highway on Sunday.

Police said the incident happened in the main bazaar of Dera Murad Jamali town where people were busy in Eid shopping. One of the gunmen was arrested late in the night from Dera Allahyar.

Two people, a shopkeeper and a customer, were killed on the spot while two others were wounded in the attack.

The deceased were identified as Faiz Muhammad Lehri (shopkeeper) and Ali Dost Khayazai (customer), whereas the wounded victims were later identified as Shafqat Ali Lehri and Mureed Ali.

Soon after receiving information about the incident, police rushed to the site and shifted the bodies and injured to the district hospital.

A senior police officer said that it emerged during the initial investigation that the incident was result of a longstanding dispute between two clans of the Lehri tribe.
