Poachers held, rare species recovered

THATTA, Oct 15: A wildlife raiding party led by district game warden Pir Muhammad raided a consignment site, and recovered over one hundred illegally hunted rare varieties of duck and migratory birds here on Monday.

These birds were being transported to Karachi.

These species had been hunted from coastal area of Chuch Jehan Khan in taluka Shah Bundar.

The wildlife official told newsmen that a majority of these birds were later released at wildlife protective sanctuary Haleji for breeding. However, no one could confirm whether the birds were freed or not.

The department challaned the accused identified as Suleman under the relevant law.

CROCODILE: During campaign against poachers in Sukkur range, one crocodile was recovered from villagers of village Muharram Magsi, taluka Rohri, district Sukkur, reports our correspondent.

The crocodile, which is seven feet long, had been caught from the nearby lake.

According to a press release issued by the Deputy Conservator, Hussain Bux Bhaghat, the crocodile was later released in Januji Nara Canal, Game Reserve.

Deputy Conservator and his raid party also recovered a ‘Python’ from villagers of Shah Ladhani, Taluka and district Khairpur.

It was later released in its habitat at Chotyaroon, district Sanghar.

Deputy Conservator of Wildlife also arrested 10 poachers from Ghotki desert area who were hunting deer. The poachers were challaned and a huge fine was slapped on them.
