Iconic Indian playback singer Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to a hospital after testing positive for the coronavirus last month and though she'd been declared stable soon after, her health has deteriorated once again and she is currently on a ventilator.

According to the Times of India, the 92-year-old was admitted to the ICU of Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital on Jan 8 after she tested positive for Covid-19. Alongside Covid-19, Mangeshkar was also reportedly suffering from pneumonia.

According to ANI, her niece Rachna Shah said she has mild symptoms. “She is doing fine. [She] has been kept in ICU only for precautionary reasons considering her age. Please respect our privacy and keep didi in your prayers,” she said.

Soon after she was admitted, the doctor who was treating Mangeshkar said she would remain under observation for the next 10 to 12 days, according to ANI. "Singer Lata Mangeshkar continues to be in the ICU ward. She will be under observation for 10 to 12 days. Along with Covid-19, she is also suffering from pneumonia," said Dr Pratit Samdhani.

Mangheskar's younger sister Usha told the Times of India, "She is doing much better now. Corona ka koi asar nahi hai uspe [The coronavirus has had no impact on her]. She has little bit of pneumonia [and] congestion, which I feel should get cleared today. She is fine now and within one or two days she should get discharged.”

It has been almost a month since Mangeshkar was hospitalised in Mumbai and Dr Samdhani just confirmed the legendary singer’s health has deteriorated once again and she is reportedly in critical condition.

I pray for your quick recovery. Your melodies brought great happiness and joy to those who left South Asia in the 1960s for work in Europe and beyond. And through your melodies all that they cherished and valued about mother India.

Lata Mangheskar is one of the greatest singer of India but her songs are equally liked by the citizens in Pakistan as well. One of the reasons is that mostly she sung her songs in Urdu language which is the National language of Pakistan. Her fans in Pakistan pray that she should get well soon.

@Ali Asghar Many Pakistanis come to India for treatment. Sitting in Pakistan you can’t even dream to get treated in a hospital like Breach Candy. She was 92. She already had health issues.
