BAJAUR: A loaded truck overturned on the main Khar-Nawagai Road in Bajaur tribal district on Monday, suspending traffic for about three hours.

Residents and Rescue 1122 officials said the truck overturned on an under-construction section of the artery in Shandi area.

However, the road was reopened after a Rescue 1122 team removed the truck from the road.

BAN ON UNVACCINATED PEOPLE: The authorities on Monday banned entry of unvaccinated people to hospitals, Nadra, passport and other public offices in Bajaur tribal district.

The decision was taken at a meeting held here to review the Covid-19 vaccination drive in the district chaired by deputy commissioner Iftikhar Alam.

District health officer Dr Faisal Kamal and district coordinator on coronavirus Dr Abdur Rahman also attended the meeting.

The participants were informed that the district had witnessed an upsurge in Covid-19 cases over the past two weeks, according to a statement. The statement, however, did not mention the total number of cases in Bajaur.

Keeping in view the rise in cases and to make people get vaccinated against the pandemic, the meeting decided to ban unvaccinated people’s entry to government offices from Tuesday (today).

However, the meeting was told that Bajaur had not yet reported a case of omicron, a new variant of Covid-19.

The participants were also briefed about the ongoing Covid-19 vaccination drive.
