KHYBER: The Pasedkhel sub-tribe of the Shinwari tribe has demanded of the district administration to resolve its longstanding boundary dispute with rival Khugakhel sub-tribe to avoid any armed clash between the two sides.

Addressing a press conference at Landi Kotal Press Club on Saturday, Pasedkhel elders Malik Baid Khan, Malik Rabeedullah, Haji Raz Mohammad and Azad Wali Shinwari accused the rival tribe of carrying out illegal construction on the disputed land near the Torkham border.

The elders warned of using force and also going to court if the issue was not resolved through negotiations with the district administration acting as both mediator and guarantor. The elders said their tribe was in possession of the original ownership documents of the disputed land and could present the same at any forum.

They also asked the National Logistics Cell to stop construction of customs terminal on the disputed site as they had neither signed any agreement with the government for leasing out their land nor had they offered it for any official use.
