MITHI: Former Balochistan chief minister Jam Kamal Alyani, accomplished rally drivers Nadir Magsi, Sahibzada Sultan and Nida Wasti are among the competitors in the marathon jeep race being held as part of the three-day Thar Sports Festival which begins from Friday.

“The race will be a special feature of the festival as top drivers will be taking part,” Arbab Lutfullah, the Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh for Sports, told reporters here on Thursday. “A 100km track has been paved for the jeep race in the desert district.”

As many as 78 drivers have registered for the race and Arbab informed that competitions in other sporting disciplines will be held in different venues in Mithi and adjoining areas.

“We want to boost healthy activity in the region,” he said, informing that malakhra, camel and horse races will also be held.
