RECENTLY, the students of Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, organised an exhibition called Art Fusion in which students from different departments participated and expressed their art with creative works. If these students continue to work hard like this every day, they will be celebrating their art all over the world in the future.

The university is famous for its quality education, environment and many positive activities. Its environment gives students a fresh edge. Activities, like the recent Art Fusion, should be held at the national level so that the younger generation may explore and then exploit its potential.

Unfortunately, such activism occurs in a constrained environment dominated by bad news, where there is always a war of resources and power, where a young person suffers from unemployment and commits suicide, where there is a gender discrepancy and gender bias, and where there is sectarian strife.

Against this depressing backdrop, positive activities, such as art festivals, feel like a breath of fresh air. Therefore, we must all pledge to use our capabilities for the betterment of society and foster positive thinking. We should take society towards reform by promo-ting arts and crafts in our communities.
