HYDERABAD: The civil judge and judicial magistrate-I of Kotri on Saturday ordered the Hyderabad Central Prison superintendent to release three Sindh University students jailed over raising anti-state slogans. The order was issued after the Jamshoro police submitted challan against them as ‘C-class (cancel)’ in the sedition case.

The case against Akash Lakho, Danish Ghani and Mohammad Azeem Jatoi was registered vide crime No. 302/21 under sections 123-A, 124-A, 153-A, 147, 149, 109, 505 of the Pakistan Penal Code on behalf of state.

The police had booked 35 students for raising anti-state slogans during a programme held on the SU campus in Jamshoro to observe Sindhi cultural day.

Upon submission of C-class challan, the directed the jail superintendent to release the three students if they were not required in any other case.

Sindh United Party (SUP) leader Roshan Buriro, Ameer Azad Panhwar, Khuda Bux Thebo and other activists were present in court when the order was issued.
