DADU, Jan 25: The leaders of the Citizens Action Committee were arrested in a sedition case by police for giving a strike call and staging a protest rally in Sehwan town on Friday.
The leaders of the Committee Sharif Bashir Otho, Abdul Sattar Mallah, Maula Bux Noohani, Ghulam Nabi Noohani and Abdul Hameed Buledi had led a protest rally in the town against oil exploration company.
Police have registered an FIR against them under sections 124-A, 353, 153, 341, 147, 148, 149 of the PPC.
A complete strike was observed in Sehwan town on Friday in response to a call given by the Action Committee to press administration of LASMO – an oil and gas exploration firm to provide jobs to the locals of the Kachho and Kohistan areas
The citizens have threatened the police to widen the scope of protest, if the arrested leaders were not released and jobs were not provided to the people of the areas.
PROTEST: A large number of people staged a demonstration in front of the press club on Friday to protest against the attitude of HESCO officials of sub-division-II.
Led by Naib Nazim UC-I, Ghulam Muhammad Solangi, Suhail Ahmed Dawach and Muhammad Paryal, the protesters, carrying placards and banners raised slogans against the executive engineer and the SDO, HESCO, Dadu.
Speaking to the protesters the speakers said that HESCO officials had cut electric wires without any reason. They further said that a delegation of Sikandarabad colony had visited the office of the executive engineer and the SDO HESCO-II, requesting them to restore the electricity but the officials demanded bribe.
They said that the meter readers of the area had demanded money from power consumers of Sikandarabad, and other colonies of the town, and on their refusing to pay money, inflated bills were sent to many consumers.
The officials concerned refused to get the problem solved, they added.
They accused the HESCO officials of having threatened the consumers of registering an FIR against them if they complained to any higher official.
The Taluka Nazim, Dadu, Syed Zafar Ali Shah, assured the demonstrators that electricity would be restored within 24-hours and action would be taken against the officials.
ARRESTED: The Dadu town police raided a new bus stand and arrested Zahid Hussain Zaunr and seized one pistol from his possession.
