LAHORE, Nov 20: Indians were duly rewarded for their best performance when Chiragh Kumar and Miss Vaishavi Sinha annexed Pakistan amateur titles as the curtain fell on the 45th National amateur golf championship at the Lahore Gymkhana course on Sunday.

Chiragh countered stiff challenge from M Saddiqur Rehman of Bangladesh and Tariq Mehmood of Pakistan to win the title with four-day aggregate 277.

Interestingly, all the three contenders had left the others behind and fought each other closely on the final day. They had a round of 71 each at one stage on the final day but Chiragh managed to win the national title.

M Saddiq clinched the second spot with four-day aggregate 281.

Pakistan, which lost international team match trophy and Jayawardene Trophy in this competition, had to console itself with Tariq Mehmood’s third position (284).

Miss Vaishavi earned Indians the other title. She demonstrated how to control a competitive event.

The consistency she showed is reflected in her three-day scoring (73, 72, 71).

Miss Sharmila Nicollet, also of India, was the runner-up.
