ISLAMABAD, Nov 20: Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao and Japanese senior Vice-Foreign Minister Shiozaki discussed cooperation in war on terror and human trafficking, here on Saturday.

During the meeting, Mr Sherpao said that as a frontline state in the fight against terrorism, Pakistan had arrested around 600 operatives.

He proposed conclusion of a memorandum of understanding between the two countries to strengthen cooperation in combating the menace.

Pakistan had been working in close cooperation with some 40 countries to curb terrorism and human smuggling, which were major problems affecting the entire international community, Mr Sherpao told the visiting minister. He thanked the Japa-nese government for extending generous assistance to Pakistan for relief and rescue operations in the devastated areas.

The Japanese vice-foreign minister praised the efforts and resolve of the government and nation to overcome the aftermath of the natural disaster and assured all possible help, including technical assistance in rehabilitation and reconstruction.—APP
