GUJRANWALA, Nov 20: A tough contest among three candidates is likely on Monday (today) in PP-97 Gujranwala by-polls. Independent aspirant Dr Ghulam Sarwar, brother-in-law of disqualified MPA Mian Mazher Javed, ARD nominee Chaudhry Fazal Abbas Cheema and ruling PML candidate Nasir Cheema, brother of former MPA Muhammad Azam Cheema, are in the run.

Ghulam Sarwar and Fazal Cheema have accused the ruling party of making a rigging plan during the polling process.

Meanwhile, the election commission officials held a meeting with the district administration and police here on Sunday and reviewed steps for fair and transparent by-polls.

RECOVERED: Police on Sunday recovered bodies of the two women, who had been missing for the last one week in Wazirabad.

Fehmida Bibi of Wadala Sundhawan and Maqbool Bibi of Rukanpur had gone to a shrine in Chak Sanata Baba Pir Shah and Kalaski where some unidentified accused killed them and threw their bodies in the fields.
