ISLAMABAD, Nov 20: Four companies have submitted their proposals to the Capital Development Authority for recreational train project which is aimed at facilitating tourists in the federal capital, an authority official said here on Sunday.

The companies sent their proposals along with photographs of train and details including passenger capacity, climbing ability, delivery time and maintenance requirements, he said, adding that they would also give presentations to the CDA Board.

Once the expression of interest process is completed, steps would be taken to award a contract for the project, the official said.

The authority plans to operate a train specially designed for hilly areas. The train will start from Shakarparian and go onward to Rose and Jasmine Garden, Folk Art Museum and Rawal Lake Chowk before returning to the starting point, covering a total of eight kilometres, the official said.

CDA Chairman Kamran Lashari had suggested the recreational train plan last year, he said, adding that consequently, consultations with the Pakistan Railways were conducted, leading to a joint survey after which a feasibility report was prepared.— APP
