NAWABSHAH, Nov 20: Police on Saturday arrested a man in Doulat Colony for allegedly criminally assaulting his two step-daughters, one aged eight years and the other five.

The accused was identified as Ayoub Rajput alias Ayoub Punjabi.

According to the SHO of the A-section police station, Ms Parveen informed police that Ayoub Rajput, staying next door, had been assaulting his children.

He said police raided the house and arrested Ayoub Rajput, and also brought the two girls.

The girls alleged that Ayoub Rajput was a friend of their mother and had been criminally assaulting them for long whereas the man claimed that he had married their mother.

Police are looking for the girls’ mother who was not present in the house at the time of the raid.

The girls were sent to the People’s Medical College Hospital for medical check-up.

The SHO said the girls would remain in custody of women police.

The girls told journalists that the man had threatened them with killing if they told about the assaults to anyone.
