It’s that time of the year when Spotify becomes the musical Santa and leaves you with a bundle of your year’s musical journey. Along with a wrap up of your streaming history, there’s also a general ranking of artists and Aima Baig has topped the list of most streamed local female artists in Pakistan 2021.

The singer-songwriter is only 26 and she’s making big moves. We’re thrilled to see her thrive and she’s equally ecstatic to reach such heights. “A dream come true,” she called it.

Spotify only launched in Pakistan earlier this year and it’s been a game changer for a lot of listeners as well as artists as the reach has been tremendous. Pakistan is often late to the scene where technological advancements are concerned but bringing Spotify on to the table has been a big win for all music lovers as it has opened up access to new musical arenas.

Baig is a well-established artist and her debut song ‘Kalabaaz Dil’ in Lahore Say Agay is when she really blew up. She even won the Best Female Singer Award for the song at the Lux Style Awards.

The singer has also been part of Coke Studio Seasons 10 to 12 and is known for her brief appearance on Dunya News’ Mazaaq Raat as well.

Baig has recorded multiple OSTs such as ‘Do Bol’ and ‘Aey Zindagi’. Her list of hit songs includes ‘Aya Lariye’, and ‘Malang’. She has collaborated with multiple well-known artists and the list only grows, including Farhan Saeed, Abdullah Siddiqui, Ali Sethi and Ali Zafar.

She also did the PSL anthem ‘Groove Mera’ this year with Naseebo Laal and Young Stunners.

The singer has had quite the year — she also got engaged to actor Shahbaz Shigri in March.

This seems to have been Aima Baig’s year with all that she’s achieved — is it Aima Baig’s world and we’re just living in it? It's refreshing to see female artists step up and truly rock it.
