There's only one name on everyone's mind after Pakistan's match with Afghanistan on Friday night — Asif Ali. The cricketer powered his way into the hearts of many, including our celebrities, who took to social media to praise the athlete for his performance.

Pakistan's run chase was at 124-5 with 24 runs needed off 12 remaining balls to bag a win when Ali swooped in and raised the score with a volley of sixes, which ultimately powered Pakistan to victory.

Hareem Farooq, Sana Javed and many other stars took to Instagram Stories to sing his praises after the match.

Singer Umair Jaswal and actor Asad Siddiqui were feeling the love as well.

Former cricketer Wasim Akram called Ali the "best finisher in the game" on Twitter.

Singer Uzair Jaswal showed his appreciation for the cricketer.

Actor Navin Waqar couldn't help but fawn over the man either.

"What a confident player!" actor Humayun Saeed said on Twitter.

Actor Adeel Hussain gave Ali a round of applause on Instagram Stories.

Former cricketer Shahid Afridi said he enjoyed the "match and Asif Ali's finish".

Pakistan now has three wins in a row in the T20 World Cup. The team is so very close to qualifying for the semi finals and the entire nation is cheering them on. Go team!

We must have a team, not exceptions to rely upon. Without Asif, this much was sufficiently lost.

@M. Saeed we have a team. Asif did the role that he is in the team for. Openers will not have 100+ stand in every game.

We had always been a strong bowling side never had this depth and finish ,now we have a long batting lineup so a balanced side not dependent on individual, one day one performs the other day some one else, with bat and ball.Over all a collective team effort.

While Asif has performed exceptionally well , Pakistan need to remember they haven’t landed on the moon. We Indians are jealous losing to Pakistan but have to admit this may be Pakistan’s World Cup …i.e. if their performance stays as it is. Good Luck .

@M. Saeed We won, people only remember results. They are all diamonds in our team, its just they shine one by one. Point is if only ONE player of Pak team performs it is enough to win, rest is all nonsense.

Asif Ali did great and won the match. Having said that, I think Pakistan underperformed in this match. It should have never gone to the wire. Good thing Asif Ali saved the day.

@M. Saeed Although a team effort, but in sports, one or two always come through, whether offense or defense, but they come and save the day, look it up.
