LOWER DIR: Deputy commissioner Aun Haidar Gondal here the other day directed the Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority (PKHA)’s executive engineer to identify the area on both sides of Timergara bypass so that a proper drainage system and footpath could be constructed there.

Mr Gondal visited the site as part of beautification project of Timergara city along with additional deputy commissioner revenue Jan Mohammad, tehsil municipal officer Shakil Hayat, local government assistant director Mamoon Nawaz and PKHA executive engineer Maqbool Hussain. He also directed PKHA to initiate work on drainage system near the Balambat Bridge.

Mr Gondal said that pedestrians would be facilitated through the beautification project so that they could not face hurdles during rainy season. TMO Hayat was tasked to prepare a plan in this regard.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved Rs70 million for the Timergara city beautification work, which according to PTI lawmaker Malik Shafiullah would start soon.

ORPHANAGE: Social welfare department’s district officer Nisar Ahmad on Tuesday said that the welfare home for orphans in Chakdara was being made functional.

Talking to mediapersons, he said the welfare centre had been dysfunctional for the last six years. He said that the social welfare department had made plans to reactivate this centre to provide free of cost health, education and residential facilities to the orphans.
