LAHORE: Following the hike in the petroleum product prices, the Pakistan Railways (PR) has decided to increase fares of all its trains and charges for parcels and luggage.

According to the decision, there would be a 10pc increase each on fares for all the passenger trains and destinations and parcel/luggage charges with effect from Nov 1. Similarly, the freight charges would have a five percent increase with effect from Nov 5, according to notifications separately issued for revenue categories.

“It is notified for information and guidance of all concerned that the passenger fares have been increased for different trains and classes with effect from November 1 till further orders,” reads a notification issued by the office of the PR chief marketing manager.

“The Director (IT) is requested to implement the 10pc increase (class-wise) in passenger trains on advance reservation. The Divisional Superintendents are requested to implement the fare table 2021 enforced with effect from Nov 1 at all stations and offices accordingly,” the notification added. Similar notices have been issued by the respective sections of the PR.
