KARACHI: Youth Club Blues and Beecham Club topped their respective pools to reach the quarter-finals of the Inter-Club Hockey Championship at the KHA Sports Complex on Sunday.

Having scored 29 goals in their opening two matches, Youth Club Blues thrashed Cantt Combined Club 14-0 to top Pool ‘F’. Haris Umer slamed five goals, Adnan and Hammad Ayaz scored a brace each while Arbab Ayaz, Ali Afridi, Wasim Aslam, Abdul Rehman and Nadeem added one goal each.

Beecham Club emerged as Pool ‘B’ champions after outplaying Gulberg Club 8-1; the result following a win and a draw in their first two fixtures. Asif Ahmed Khaan shone with a hat-trick and was followed by Mohammad Ikhlaque, Mohammad Zubair, Irfan Khan, Hammad Rao and Mohammad Sarfaraz who chipped in one goal apiece. Munil Niazi netted once for the losers.

Al Sagheer Whites got their first win, beating Badruddin Club 2-1. Mohammad Saad and Mohammad Abbas scored one goal apiece for the winners while Zohaib Ahmed reduced the margin for the losers.

Karachi Fitness Club also chalked up a 2-1 victory over Korangi Tigers Club. Irfan Ali and Misbahuddin Mudassir scored one goal each for the winners while Mayan Ali reduced the deficit for the losers.
