“Best remedy for cancer is its early diagnosis therefore public awareness is a key to prevention of this dreaded disease,” PAEC member Dr Kauser Abdulla Malik said.

He was speaking at the concluding ceremony of a one-week workshop on Radionuclide Treatment of Liver Cancer jointly organized by the PAEC and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Since awareness is vital, the PAEC has launched an extensive campaign on the subject in media as a result of which more and more patients are visiting our cancer hospitals, Dr Malik said.

For screening, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer among women, the PAEC has established clinics in all of its 13 cancer hospitals having women doctors and female staff, he said.

The PAEC has also launched a mobile medical unit having screening and diagnosis equipment to treat cancer patients in remote areas, Dr Malik said.
