GUJRAT, Jan 24: The district coordination officer has appointed ABS Hospital’s additional principal medical officer ((APMO) Dr Aslam Butt as the medical superintendent of the DHQ Hospital, it was learnt.
Sources told this correspondent on Thursday that the health secretary had posted Dr Butt as the Gujrat district health officer in December last year, transferring DHO Dr Inamul Haq to Bahawalpur.
DCO Agha Nadeem did not relieve Dr Haq on the plea that the matter of the transfer of an officer was rested with the District Nazim under the devolution plan.
Later, the DCO said in a letter to the health secretary that the district government did not want to transfer Dr Haq.
Meanwhile, EDO (health) Syed Abid Hussain Shah who was also holding additional charge of the MS of the DHQ hospital, had slipped from the stairs of his house and got one of his legs fractured.
Dr Shah was advised six weeks complete bed rest and the DCO appointed Dr Butt as the MS and gave additional charge of the post of EDO (health) to Dr Haq.
SHOT DEAD: Unidentified attackers shot dead two participants in a fare and injured as many in Kharrianwala, some 45km from here, on Wednesday night.
According to reports reaching here, two unidentified men opened fire at the people attending the fare held at Wadda Pind in connection with the annual urs of Pir Fazal Shah on Wednesday.
Nasar Iqbal and Razzaq died on the spot while Khalid Bashir and Shahzad were injured seriously. Several others received minor injuries.
One of the participants in the fare told this correspondent that three officials of Karrianwala police escaped from the scene instead of chasing the outlaws.
The motive behind the attack could not be ascertained.
Kharrianwala police registered a case.
