THE Muslim League has decided to enter the Interim Government and the reconstruction of the Government has been officially announced in a Viceroy’s House Communique issued on Tuesday evening [Oct 15]. The communique followed an earlier announcement of the League’s decision by Mr. Liaquat Ali Khan… . The League Secretary also told Pressmen that the League President has sent a list of five names as the Muslim League’s nominees.

Mr. Liaquat Ali Khan also made the ... observation that “fuller details as regards our decision will be known when the letters that have passed between the League President and the Viceroy are published”. What has taken the non-League circles by surprise is the inclusion in the League’s quota of a Scheduled Caste member belonging to the Scheduled Caste Federation. In fact there was consternation in the Bhangi colony when reports of the League’s decision to take this step as a practical proof of the Muslims’ sympathy for the downtrodden among the Hindus themselves became known. Mr. Gandhi, it is said, was most annoyed. [The new members of the Interim Government are:] Mr. Liaquat Ali Khan, Mr. I.I. Chundrigar, Mr. Abdur Rab Nishtar, Mr. Ghanzafar Ali Khan [and] Mr. Jogendra Nath Mandal.
