LAHORE: A judicial magistrate on Wednesday extended physical remand of eight suspects for two more days in the Minar-i-Pakistan incident, including the associate of TikToker Ayesha Akram.

The magistrate also granted fresh physical remand of three other suspects arrested by the police the other day.

Lorry Adda police produced all the eleven suspects before the court with a request of their physical remand.

The investigating officer said the custody of the suspects was required for the recovery of videos and pictures from their electronic devices.

Magistrate Hassan Sarfraz Cheema allowed the police and granted the physical remand of the suspects for two days.

The parents and family members of the suspects also gathered outside the court and held a protest demonstration against the police for, what they claim, unlawfully arresting their children.

They chanted “we want justice” outside the courtroom and also demanded the arrest of TikToker Ayesha. They claimed that the Tiktoker girl was the culprit in the whole episode.

The police had arrested Amir Sohail alias Rambo and others after Ayesha alleged that Rambo was the mastermind of the incident in which a mob had physically assaulted her on the Independence Day.

She also accused her associate of harassing and blackmailing her for money through her objectionable videos.

The police produced the suspects before Judicial Magistrate Hassan Sarfraz Cheema and sought their physical remand for 14 days.

The police had registered the first information report against 400 unidentified persons for assaulting the complainant and molesting her.

Sections 354-A (assault or use of criminal force against woman and stripping her of her clothes), 382 (theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to commit the theft), 147 (rioting) and 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Pakistan Penal Code have been included in the FIR.

DOCTOR: A judicial magistrate on Wednesday sent a young doctor to jail on judicial remand in a case of harassing a woman staff member of a public hospital where he worked.

The cyber crime wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested Dr Abdullah on the complaint of a nurse of Jinnah Hospital. She alleged that the doctor, who did his MBBS from Russia, had been harassing and blackmailing her through her private videos.

The FIR was registered under sections 20, 21 and 24 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), 2016.

The investigating officer told the court that all the material evidence had been recovered from the suspect and his custody was not required.

At this, the magistrate sent the doctor on judicial remand.
