QUETTA: A sit-in was staged here on Wednesday near the Red Zone area in protest against the killing of two children four days ago in the Hoshab area of Kech district.

The family of the deceased claimed that the children were killed when a mortar shell exploded in the area where they were playing. Another person was injured in the incident.

They accused security forces of firing the mortar shell from a check-post and demanded an impartial inquiry into the incident.

A Frontier Corps official denied the allegation and said they had nothing to do with the incident.

The family members took the bodies to Fida Ahmed Chowk in Turbat town and staged a sit-in which was joined by workers of all political parties, lawyers and members of civil society.

The Turbat administration held negotiations with the protesters and assured them that a probe would be conducted into the incident. However, talks remained fruitless. Later, protesters reached Quetta along with the bodies and staged the sit-in near the Red Zone.
