DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The police recovered three abducted boys and arrested one of their kidnappers during an operation in Manzai area of Tank district here on Tuesday.

Tank district police officer Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada said a gang of kidnappers had kidnapped the teenage boys, namely Mubarak Shah, Abdullah and Hikmatullah, from the rural area, and shifted them to an undisclosed location.

He said he formed a special team under the supervision of DSP headquarters Inam Khan Gandapur to trace the kidnappers and secure the release of boys.

Mr Sahibzada claimed the police experts traced the gang and its hideout in the hilly area of Manzai with the help of modern technology.

The district police chief, who led the operation, said a contingent of police assisted by commandos of Elite Force took part in the offensive and freed the boys from the clutches of their kidnappers.

“The law enforcers also arrested one of the kidnappers, identified as Gulzar Alam, and seized an assault rifle from him,” the DPO maintained, saying policemen were in the area in search of other members of the kidnappers’ gang.

Meanwhile, residents of Manzai area gathered on the premises of district police office when they learnt about the safe recovery of boys. They raised slogans in favour of the police and thanked the district police officer and his team for launching a successful operation against kidnappers.

The DPO also announced cash prizes and certificates of appreciation for the police officers and personnel who took part in this successful operation.
