KARACHI, Jan 24: The Pakistan Telecommunication Company is in the process of introducing online billing and customer-care centre.

This was stated by a spokesman for the PTCL here on Thursday. Responding to a news-item in the Jan 24 issue of Dawn, he said there was no question of arrears if the bill was paid on time.

“It only happens when the customers clear their bills after the expiry of the due date.”

HE SAID: “The disconnection does not take place abruptly rather before the disconnection the telephone is made one-way for three days which is an indicator that the bill has not been paid. In case of delayed payment of the bill the customers have to present the paid copy of the bill to the revenue officer concerned. But most of the customers do not provide the paid copy if the bill is deposited after the due date which leads to disconnection of their telephone number.”

Dawn, however, stands by its story which was based on the evidence provided by a number of PTCL subscribers.
