According to a police official, Mohsin of Chishtian had one-and-a-half-month-old twin sons, Azan and Burhan, who were born during the seventh month of pregnancy of his wife. They were facing some health issues due to premature birth. However, their health was gradually improving.

Mohsin said five days back, he brought his infant sons to a private hospital of Dr Kashif Shehbaz for treatment of diarrhea and fever where a male staff nurse administered them high potency injections on prescription of Dr Kashif. He said a few minutes later, Azan became motionless while Burhan started crying.

Mohsin said when Burhan did not stop crying even after one-and-a-half hours, they rushed both the children to the district headquarters (DHQ) hospital where during treatment, Azan started bleeding from mouth and nose and died after vomiting blood. Later, Burhan also vomited blood and died.

Mohsin appealed to the health secretary to take notice of the incident.

Dr Kashif told Dawn the incident happened on Sept 18 at about 1pm when twin babies of 45 days, each weighing two kilograms, were brought to his hospital. He said he prescribed normal medicine, including dry milk, according to the health of the babies.

He said according to the CCTV footage of the hospital, the parents stayed in his hospital for 20 minutes and left it happily after getting medicine.
