TAXILA: The inter district Teenmeela-Hatian Road that connects Attock district with G.T Road has been a cause of concern for commuters as it has been dug up for laying underground cable.

The road is the gateway to Attock city from Rawalpindi-Peshawar G.T Road and Islamabad -Peshawar motorway. The route is particularly dangerous for people who opt to use it after dark.

“Due to recent rain, the mud from these ditches spreads on the road and while passing through this place, motorists especially heavy vehicles come to the other side of the road, which may lead to some fatal incident,” said Sher Ali - a wagon driver who runs his public transport vehicle on the route.

“The road has become a death trap for motorcyclists as ditches are left open by the contractor of a service provider company and they are not visible after sunset and many motorcyclists travelling on this road have gotten injured,” said Zia Ullah - an employee of a government organisation who travels daily on the route from his native town to Attock.

Karamat Khan - who runs a hotel along the road said that the contractor of a local telephone service provider, to save labour and time has left trenches unfilled and these are causing incidents on a daily basis.

Commuters have called upon authorities concerned to take stock of the situation as it is a serious threat to the lives of residents of the area.
