KARACHI: JI’s mass contact drive

Published January 25, 2002

KARACHI, Jan 24: The Jamaat-i-Islami has rejected the government’s policies regarding constitutional changes and political and religious parties and criticized its pro-US tilt.

Announcing a mass contact campaign from Friday to create awareness among the people of the grave situation on the border and to record its protest against the government’s policies, the party demanded the restoration of democratic process.

The chief of JI Sindh, Asadullah Bhutto, at a press conference here on Thursday said during the campaign rallies and public meetings would be held throughout the province to make the people aware of the dangers faced by the country.

He said the Vajpayee government has resorted to a ferocious campaign against Pakistan, and Hindu extremist parties have been recruiting volunteers to wage war against Pakistan, but our rulers have failed to motivate the people to face the danger of a possible Indian aggression.
