KARACHI: The weekly Gymkhana race meeting, which was scheduled to take place here at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday, has been cancelled due to persistent heatwave in the city.

“The races have been cancelled owing to the [ongoing] heatwave,” an official of the KRC said on Saturday.

Earlier, a four-race handicap was released on Thursday but the acceptance was deferred the following day.

“The heatwave has also affected morning track work of the horses and they are down due to hot climatic conditions,” the official added.

It may be mentioned that the Sept 5 meeting was also cancelled due to rain.
