LAHORE: Covid claimed lives of 20 more patients during the last 24 hours, bringing the tally to 12,363 in Punjab on Saturday.

The total number of infections reached 420,616 in Punjab after 1,192 more people tested positive for the virus during the same period. Of them, 546 cases were reported in Lahore, 114 in Rawalpindi, 69 in Sargodha, 68 in Faisalabad, 42 in Bahawalpur, 40 in Bhakar, 39 in Multan, 32 in Hafizabad, 23 in Chakwal etc.

The health department said the positivity rate in Punjab was recorded 6.5 percent, while it was 9.2pc in Lahore, 8.7pc each in Rawalpindi and Faisalabad, 7.4pc in Multan and 3.2pc in Gujranwala.

The Punjab primary and secondary healthcare department secretary has appealed to the public to cooperate with the health and medical officials to bring the virus’ positivity rate down.

He said the vaccination and implementation of Covid guidelines were the only remedies to curtail the virus.
