QUETTA, Nov 7: Chief of Pukhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Mahmood Khan Achakzai has called upon leaders of all political parties to unite on a one-point agenda of waging a struggle against army for restoration of genuine democracy and supremacy of constitution and parliament.

Speaking at a public meeting in Pishin on Monday, he said people were suffering because of sky-high prices of goods of daily need, unemployment and lawlessness owing to interferences by generals in political affairs.

Mr Achakzai criticized President Musharraf’s domestic and foreign policies and said that his internal policies had destabilized the political system while on the external front his address to the Jewish Congress in United States had damaged Pakistan’s image in the Muslim world.

He asserted that the existing disharmony between the Punjab and oppressed nationalities and denial of national rights to Pukhtuns, Balochs, Sindhis and Seraikis by the federation were the root causes of political instability and constitutional crisis in the country.

He criticized the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) and other agencies for their involvement in politics and their promotion of pro-establishment political groups in the so-called polls to isolate democratic leaders. Such dangerous steps, he said, would harm national integrity.

Mr Achakzai said that without unity and united struggle no nation could get its national rights and stressed that Pukhtuns must unite to achieve their national and constitutional rights.

Referring to the successful parliamentary polls held in Afghanistan, the PMAP leader called upon JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman to use his influence over Taliban leader Mullah Muhammad Umar to reconcile with President Hamid Karzai in the interest of political stability in that country and said that the PMAP would cooperate with him in this matter.
