JUNAID SAFDAR, THE SINGER

Leave politics aside, peeps# And just appreciate the fact that Junaid Safdar, son of PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz, is a fine singer. His ability to sing came to the fore last week when he was seen, at least on two occasions at his own wedding ceremony, " exing his vocal muscles rather nicely. He sang a Punjabi number and the famous Mohammad Rafi song Kya hua tera waada. It was a little disconcerting, however, to see a good number of people on social media criticising him for political reasons related to his family. Why can.t we just acknowledge talent purely on its own grounds?

IN LOVE

We knew that Mahira Khan is not single any more. We also kinda knew who she talked about as her love interest last year on HSY.s talk show and then again on Samina Peerzada's. Still, if there were some doubt lingering somewhere, it's now been cleared. On August 26 she posted an image of a romance-! lled printed poem on Instagram on, what sounded like, her beau's birthday. It read: .My love. You make me better. The right love. The right person. You are.. The image was tagged to the gentleman. Awww. This does come across as the right note at the right time, and hopefully it will make her better.

STAND CORRECTED!

There is no secret where Bollywood A-lister Anupam Kher's political affiliations lie . however bigoted they are. He also seems to exude confidence in things that he doesn.t have the foggiest idea about. The latest example is the video of some young boys in a valley playing a tune on cans made of tin. He captioned it as if the boys were from India. It didn't take Shehzad Roy much time to correct the actor, telling him that it's a video from Pakistan. Hunza valley, which the singer had put up on social media some time earlier. By the time this piece went to print, Anupam K hadn't yet come up with a response. And he probably will not.

LEARNING THE ROPES

Feroze Khan has established himself as a pretty decent actor. It was thought that he has bigger ambitions in the! eld of acting. Well, it seems his ambitions lie elsewhere as well: he wants to be a boxer. As per an interview, he has already begun to acquire training to be a pugilist. When asked about people's reaction to his decision, Feroze K replied that his friends laughed when he ! rst expressed his intentions to become an actor. The same reaction to his boxing aim has made him realise that he. son the right track. Good for you, man. Even if you can.t give knockout performances as an actor, you can always have your opponents on the mat.

YE TU

Rapper Kanye West on August 24 submitted certain documents to the Los Angeles Superior Court, in which he requested an of! cial and legal name change. What does he want his name to be now? Answer: .Ye.. Yes, Ye. In addition, he wants his full name to be removed and instead wishes to be known as Ye . the two-letter, one syllable name. Alrighty then, if he ever sings in Urdu, one of the songs can be called Ye hui na baat.

LSA STANDARDS

When nominations for this year.s Lux Style Awards came out, not all showbiz celebs " ipped through them with a favourable eye. Actress Sonya Hussyn wasn.t particularly happy, for instance. According to her, the TV dramas that have got the nod were popular but lacked quality of content. In her Instagram post she said, .It is very disappointing to see that a project like Saraab [in which she worked] did not bag even a single nomination at the Lux Style Awards 2021. We talk about the need for meaningful content that also educates the masses with real issues but, when ! nally created, they.re hardly ever recognised / nominated for awards. Aren.t those double standards?. Hmmm. let us think Sonya H. Not really double standards. The jury usually comprises individuals of all hues and colours, not just two.
