DERA MURAD JAMALI: The tortured body of a government teacher was found in a cricket ground in Dera Murad Jamali on Thursday.

The killing shocked residents of the area who blocked the National Highway and burnt tyres in the district headquarters as a mark of protest. As a result, traffic between Sindh and Balochistan remained suspended for hours.

Police shifted the body to the district hospital.

The deceased was identified as Hidayatullah Kehri, who was a teacher at the Government Special High School, Dera Murad Jamali.

According to police, knife cuts and other marks of torture were found on the body. Doctors suspected that Mr Kehri died from wounds caused by a dagger. However, the exact cause of death would be ascertained through an autopsy.

Soon after the word about the incident spread in the area, school students and hundreds of other people took to the streets and held protests against the murder.
