DERA GHAZI KHAN: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has allowed the Ghazi University to initiate its first MPhil and PhD programmes in agronomy, Dawn has learned.

The Ghazi University was granted a no-objection certificate for the programmes under which Dr Javed Iqbal, Dr Mudassar and Dr Ibrahim would be faculty members for the PhD programme.

Department Chairman Dr Iqbal told Dawn the HEC had recognised him as supervisor for the PhD programme for three years to maintain the standard required for higher degree programmes.

He added the Agronomy Department was a pioneer department of the university.
