KASUR: Robbers shot dead a trader and took away Rs600,000 in front of a patrol police check post on Wednesday.

Relatives and traders staged a protest demonstration to express their concern over lawlessness.

DPO Imran Kishwar suspended the entire staff – in-charge and five cops – of Koraysial check post from service.

Police said Muhammad Shaukat, a commission agent at Allahabad fruit and vegetable market, was on his way home after drawing Rs600,000 from a bank by his motorcycle.

When he reached in front of the check post, the armed men stopped him and shot him dead on resistance. The robbers fled with cash.

Later, relatives of the victim and traders staged a demonstration and blocked Deepalpur Road near Allahabad Chowk prompting the DPO to suspended the entire staff of the post. The DPO also gave three-day deadline to police to arrest the culprits.

Police registered a case against the robbers.

In another incident, two robbers shot at and injured a trader on resistance on Deepalpur Road near Khudian Adda. The suspects stormed a motorcycle showroom and held up trader Shahzaib and customers. One of the robbers shot at and injured Shahzain who was shifted to the DHQ hospital in a critical condition.
