ISLAMABAD: After a reduced summer break, schools and colleges in the federal capital are going to start their new academic session from Monday (today).

Due to Covid-19 pandemic, educational institutions faced frequent closures this year, which resulted in short summer holidays that started from July 18 and continued till Aug 1.

However, it is yet to be decided when this session will end, as earlier, the session used to start in April and end in March. This year the government had to postpone annual exams till June-July and therefore decided to start the new session in August.

On the other hand, the syllabus of students from classes one to five will be based on the new single national curriculum. Sources said new books based on SNC had been distributed to all public schools, which will likely be given to students on Monday. Private institutions have also been asked to purchase SNC-based books from the market.

Meanwhile, the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) will commence exams for classes 9 and 11 from Monday. According to the FBISE, it has already completed arrangements and students have been issued roll number slips.
